Hester does action very well, but during the more emotional scenes I wanted someone like a Ivan Reis or Alex Ross to render those scenes, still for the most part I enjoyed the artwork in this book. “Admiring…but evenhandeda useful account. I think the romance was meant to build subtly, and I kept thinking that something more romantic than practical would happen as the characters reunited. This book has approximately 350 images of gardens as depicted in mostly western art , ranging from about 1400 BC to 1985 (though most of the images here are from the 15th to 19th century). After covering Adolf Hitler's rise to power in Germany he covers the erupting civil war in Spain. His work has been featured in numerous publications and has published a number of books in different genres. If I had to nitpick it, I'd say the villain does some things that doesn't always make sense to me, but I can forgive it since everything else was simply terrific. As it is, those parts of the book are what earned a second star.
